Sanitization of Reverse Osmosis Plant

This Document describes (Standard Operating procedure) SOP for Sanitization of Reverse Osmosis Plant

SOP for Sanitization of Reverse Osmosis Plant

I. Purpose & Scope:

  • The Purpose of this SOP is to lay down the procedure for Sanitization of Reverse Osmosis Plant
  • This procedure is applicable to all Engineering Department for Sanitization of Reverse Osmosis Plant

II. Responsibilities:

  • All Engineering personnel’s shall be responsible to follow and implement this SOP.

III . Introduction and Procedural Part :

Procedure :

  • Before starting the R.O. sanitization process initially remove all the sensors of R.O. system (like pH, ORP & Conductivity sensors) & instead of that put blinds.
  • Add 5 liters of Mincare solution in the soft water storage tank & add 500 ltrs. of soft water to it.
  • Check the pH of sanitization chemical which should be between 2.8 to 3.2. 1 % test strip is provided to check the concentration of solution.
  • Connect permeate outlet & reject outlet to soft water storage tank with silicon hose pipe to keep re circulated the chemical during sanitization process.
  • Open the valves of permeate & reject to full position.
  • Start the RO feed water pump & allow the RO to run for 1.1/2 hr. at 25 to 30% recovery for this adjusts the reject valve.
  • Allow the sanitization chemical to charge in the system.
  • After the chemical is charged in the system , close RO Feed pump
  • Allow the chemical to soak for 2 hrs. After 2 hrs. of soaking, start the flushing of the plant let RO permeate & reject water go drain.
  • After 1.1/2 hr. flushing start checking the presence of sanitization chemical & continue flushing until the chemical is totally flushed out. Check the same with test kit.
  • After the sanitization is completed, run the plant for 30 mins. & give sample for micro test.
  • All data shall be monitored & logged in Annexure I
