This Document describes (Standard Operating procedure) Sop for destruction and disposal of samples after analysis

Sop for destruction and disposal of samples generated during and after analysis

I. Purpose & Scope:

  • The purpose of this SOP is to lay down a procedure for destruction and disposal of samples generated during and after analysis.
  • This procedure is applicable for destruction and disposal of samples after analysis in Quality control Department

II. Responsibilities:

  • All Quality Control personnel’s shall be responsible to follow and implement this SOP.

III : Introduction and Procedural Part :

This procedure applies to Raw material, Packaging material, In process and Finished Product samples after analysis and reporting. Validation and Stability samples shall be treated as in process or finished samples based on their stages.

1) FOR RAW MATERIALS :

  • Scratch all the pasted labels.
  • Disperse all remained samples in water kept in waste bin.
  • Ensure that the dispersed sample in the bucket has been disposed.
  • Ensure that the poly bags are disposed to the scrap yard.

2) FOR PACKING MATERIALS:

  • All packing materials after analysis and the remnant sample shall be cut into pieces making them deface.
  • Ensure that the poly bags are disposed to the scrap yard.

3) FOR INPROCESS SAMPLE :

  • Scratch all the pasted labels.
  • Disperse the sample of tablet /granules in water kept in waste bin.
  • Remove the sample from the beaker /bottle of cream /ointment /gel and disperse in water kept in waste bin.
  • Ensure that the dispersed sample in the waste bin has been disposed.
  • Cut the bottles, & polybags into pieces making them unfit for use.
  • Ensure that the destroyed PM samples are disposed to the scrap yard.

4) FOR FINISHED PRODUCT SAMPLE :

  • Disperse the sample of ointment /cream /tablet /gel/solution in water kept in waste bin.
  • Squeeze sample from the tube of cream /ointment /gel and disperse in water kept in waste bin.
  • Cut the tubes & strips, bottles into pieces making them unfit for use.
  • Ensure that the destroyed PM samples are disposed to the scrap yard.
  • Sample and standard solutions, generated during analysis, shall be gently drained in water.

5) FREQUENCY:

  • As and when Required
