Sop for Operation and Calibration of Hot Air Oven used in Quality Control Department
I. Purpose & Scope:
- The purpose of this SOP is to lay down a procedure for operation and calibration of Hot Air Oven.
- This procedure is applicable for operation and calibration of Hot Air Oven used in the Quality control laboratory
II. Responsibilities:
- All Quality Control and related personnel shall be responsible to follow and implement this SOP for Operation and Calibration of Hot Air Oven
.
III: Introduction and Procedural Part :
Sop for Operation and Calibration of Hot Air Oven :
General Cleaning:
- Clean the instrument with a clean dry cloth every day.
- If required wet cloth dipped in dilute soap solution and furthermore wet cloth dipped in potable water can be used for cleaning.
- Precautions has to be taken to clean the instrument immediately with dry lint free cloth to remove the moisture.
Precautions :
- Do not open the door frequently.
- Do not keep inflammable solvents in oven.
General Instructions:
- Place equipment at designated location on leveled floor. Maintain sufficient distance around the equipment for operator movement.
- Open door of equipment and place trays /racks in position. Close door firmly.
- Keep the ventilation port partly open so that oven has sufficient ventilation.
- Connect equipment plug supply and switch on mains.
- Set temperature controller to required temperature.
- Set safety controller to 4°C above set temperature to set safety controller press ▲key to increase and▼key to decrease setting.
- Allow some time for achieving set condition.
Operation of Hot Air Oven :
- Switch ‘ON’ the instrument.
- Switch on the temperature control panel.
- The digital controller, display will illuminate and indicate ambient
- Press push button of digital controller, when this switch is press the display indicates set temperature. Set the required temperature by rotating ‘SET’ knob.
- Once the required temperature is set, release the push button, now the display will indicates actual temperature within the oven.
- Switch on the Fan for uniform maintain the heat in oven.
- Record the temperature at start of shift, middle of shift, end of Shift in Annexure- I
- At the End of Shift switches of the instrument.
Calibration :
- Calibration Frequency: Calibration done by external Agency once in year.
