SOP for usage of 3 M Stem Indicator Tape
I. Purpose & Scope:
- The Purpose of this SOP is to lay down the procedure for usage of 3 M Stem Indicator Tape.
- This procedure is applicable to production Department personnel for usage of 3 M Stem Indicator Tape.
II. Responsibilities:
- All production personnel shall be responsible to follow and implement this SOP.
III . Introduction and Procedural Part :
Procedure :
- Small strips of the tape are applied to the items before they are placed into the autoclave.
- Place one end of the indicator tape on the articles wherever required and apply finger pressure across the length of the tape to secure the pack.
- Tear off required length of tape.
- The chemical indicator shall show a visual color change from off-white/ to dark-brown/black when exposed to a steam sterilization process at 121.4 °C for 30 minutes.
- If color change is not observed then repeat the sterilization cycle.
