This article consists of Standard test procedure for Black Polybag

Standard test procedure for Black Polybag

1. Description:

Following visual checking to be carried out

Procedure: Examine Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) black colored bags in day light for appearance. Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) black colored Bags should receive in properly wrapped with polythene bag. Note down the results in test data sheet.

(Standard: Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) black colored bags . Plain 3 sides closed & one side open translucent LDPE black colored bag. Free from dust, any foreign particles.)

2. Identification By IR:

Instrument: Infrared Spectrophotometer

Procedure: To Ensure that FTIR Shall Calibrate Before Used. Clean the Sample window before used. Put the working standard /sample in sample Window .( If The ATR eco Znse Sample Measurement is Attached, press the pressure holder located on instrument with gentle tight for, liquid it is not necessary to press the sample /WS).Resolution  : 4 cm-1

Sample Scan time : 24

Background scan time : 24

Sample Data From : 4000cm-1 to 600 cm-1

Result Spectrum : Absorbance / transmittance

Compare the infrared spectra Obtained from the Sample of working standard or reference standard

If standard shall not perform , then only Spectra is consider .

(Standard: To comply With IR Spectrum of Standard)

 3. Identification of LDPE:

(Test to be performed on maximum five samples)

Procedure: Burn Test.-Hold the piece of LDPE with pair of  tong on burner. LDPE will impart paraffin odour and the burn piece when dipped in water burn piece will float.

(Standard: LDPE will impart paraffin odour and the burn piece when dipped in water burn piece will float)

4. Length:

(Test to be performed on maximum five samples)

Instrument: Scale

Procedure: Measure the Length of Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) black colored Bags by using and calculate the minimum, maximum and average Length.

Note down the results in test data sheet.

5. Width:

(Test to be performed on maximum five samples)

 Instrument: Scale

Procedure: Measure the Width of Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) black colored Bags by using and calculate the minimum, maximum and average Width.

6.Thickness:

(Test to be performed on maximum five samples)

Instrument: Digital Micrometer

Procedure: Measure the Thickness of Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) black colored Bags by using foot ruler and calculate the minimum, maximum and average Thickness.

7. Sealing:

(Test to be performed on maximum five samples)

Procedure: Fill with some water in Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) black colored Bags and check visually.

(Standard:  should be perfect)

8. Grammage:

(Test to be performed on maximum five samples)

  Instrument: Scale

Procedure: Cut the 5 X 5 cms piece of Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) black coloured  Bags by using scale and cutter. Weigh the piece on analytical balance, note down the weight in test data sheet.

Calculate the grammage as per formula given below.

Weight of piece in gm                                10000

GSM = ————————————————x———————————–

Length of piece in cms                      width of piece in cms

(Standard: 30 to 60 gsm)

9. Cutting/ Finishing:

(Test to be performed on maximum five sampled rolls)

Procedure: Check visually that Check for improper cut or finish.
