Ultrasonic water bath-Sop for operation

This Document describes (Standard Operating procedure) Sop for operation and calibration of ultrasonic water bath .

Sop for operation and calibration of ultrasonic water bath.

I. Purpose & Scope:

  • The Purpose of this SOP is to lay down the procedure for operation and calibration of ultrasonic water bath.
  • This procedure is applicable for operation, cleaning and calibration of ultrasonic water bath used in Quality Control Department

II. Responsibilities:

• All Quality Control personnel shall be responsible to follow and implement this SOP.

III : Introduction and Procedural Part :

General Cleaning :

  • Ensure that the power supply to the ultrasonic water bath is switched OFF before cleaning.

  • A Precaution has to be taken to clean the instrument immediately wet cloth remove the moisture.

Operation :

Precautions :

  • Please do not put parts directly on the bottom of tank to clean them, as it results into damage to ultrasonic transducers.
  • It is advisable to use a beaker while cleaning small easy to lose parts.
  • The tank should always be kept clean to avoid any deposition soil. This may affect the ultrasonic energy radiation.
  • Scouring powder should be use to clean, care being taken to avoid scratching of surface.

Basic Operation :

  • Put the basket in the tank & ensure that the drain valve is close. Fill the tank with DM   (minimum level= 25 mm from the tank top)
  • Switch on the ultrasonic rocker switch & set the timer as per the instruction given in manual.
  • Switch ON the heater switch if heating is required for faster dissolution or cleaning. The heater will be cutoff automatically at 500C plus.
  • In order to obtain maximum efficiency, allow sufficient time (about 5 minutes) for degassing of the liquid whenever fresh solution is put in the tank. Care should be taken to see that the tank is not overloaded with large work piece or too many small parts in  lump
  • It is recommended that after every 30 minutes, ultrasonic generation should be stop for at least 5 minutes in order to have long term efficient operation.
