vacuum oven- Sop for operation and calibration
This Document describes (Standard Operating procedure) Sop for operation and calibration of vacuum oven .
Sop for operation and calibration of vacuum oven .
I. Purpose & Scope:
- The Purpose of this SOP is to lay down the procedure for operation and calibration of vacuum oven .
- This procedure is applicable for operation, cleaning and calibration of vacuum oven used in Quality Control Department
II. Responsibilities:
- All Quality Control personnel shall be responsible to follow and implement this SOP.
III : Introduction and Procedural Part :
General Cleaning :
- Clean the instrument with a clean dry cloth every day. Occasionally wet cloth dipped in dilute soap solution may be used.
- A Precaution has to be taken to clean the instrument immediately with dry cloth to remove the moisture.
Precautions :
- Do not open the door frequently.
- Do not keep inflammable solvents in oven.
- Place equipment at designated location on leveled floor.
- Maintain sufficient distance around the equipment for operator movement.
- Open door of equipment and place trays /racks in position. Close door firmly.
- Set the temperature required and depending upon temperature
- Requirement set the 3 way switch to desired position.(set- 1 temperature up to 100°C, Set 2 temperature 101°C to 200°C set 3 temperature 201°C to 300°C
- Set temperature controller to required temperature.
Basic Operation :
- Ensure that the vacuum valve and door of the oven is closed. Switch ON the instrument.
- The red colour display will indicate the actual temperature and yellow colour display will indicate the previously set temperature.
- Set the desired temperature by pressing press “▲” key to increase and “▼” key to decrease setting.
- Allow the instrument to reach the set temperature.
- Open the door and introduce sample to be dried and follow respective
Procedure / Specification :
- Close the door of the oven.
- Connect the tube of vacuum to vacuum nozzle.
- Rotate the vacuum valve in anticlockwise direction to open the valve.
- Apply the vacuum up to the desired value (as indicated on the pressure gauge) and close the valve by rotating in clockwise direction. (1Kpa = 0.75 mm).
- Disconnect the vacuum tube and carry out the drying of the sample. Be sure that the applied vacuum remains constant during testing.
- When the drying under vacuum is in progress, put a label on the vacuum oven.
- After completion of drying release the vacuum slowly by rotating the vacuum valve in anticlockwise direction.
- Open the door and remove the sample from oven.
- Close the door and switch OFF the main switch of the instrument.
Calibration :
Calibration Frequency:
- Calibration done by external Agency once in year.
- Handle the out of calibration results as per specified SOP
- Maintain the instrument usage log book as per SOP Handling of instrument usage log book
