Sop for operation of boiler.
This Document describes (Standard Operating procedure) Sop for operation of boiler.
Sop for operation of boiler.
I. Purpose & Scope:
- The Purpose of this SOP is to lay down the procedure for operation of boiler.
- This procedure is applicable for operation of boiler used in engineering Department
II. Responsibilities:
• All Engineering personnel’s shall be responsible to follow and implement this SOP.
III : Introduction and Procedural Part :
Precautions :
- Ensure three phase power supply should be available in panel.
- Water should be available at least half in storage tank.
- Water level should be maintained between 1/3rd to 3/4th boiler chamber.
- Furnace oil should be available in day tank.
Operation of boiler Procedure :
- Check the oil in FO storage tank, maintain the level above outlet line.
- Transfer the FO through transfer pump from storage tank to service tank.
- Maintain the temperature of service tank 110°C to 130°C.
- Open the valve before and after ring man pump.
- Check the water level in boiler gauge glass, select any of two water feed pump in auto mode.
- Maintain the water level ¾ in gauge glass.
- Stop water feed pump and close inlet valve.
- Open all valve before and after fuel feed pump.
- Start the fuel feed pump and maintain the pressure inlet 3-4 kg/cm², outlet 18-21 kg/cm².
- Switch on the pre heater and maintain the temperature between 110 °C to 130°C.
- Switch on the blower.
- Switch on the burner in auto mode.
- Burner will fire automatically. If not switch off the burner and check the reason.
- In case of sequence controller not functioning in auto mode, till rectification of sequence controller, burner can be fired in manual mode.
- Push the ignition push button and turn the burner switch in manual mode. Burner will fire then release the ignition push button.
- If not fired within 30 seconds stop the burner, check the ignition transformer, sparking electrode, photo cell and burner nozzle.
- Open the water feed pump inlet valve and select anyone water feed pump in auto mode.
- Raise the pressure up to 6 kg/cm².
- Open all condensate bypass valve.
- Open the steam main valve slowly.
- Allow condensate to drain out completely.
- Close the condensate bypass valve, open the trap valves and ensure steam trap functioning.
- Maintain the water level between 3/4th in gauge glass during running the boiler.
- If there is black smoke in chimney, increase the blower air by opening of damper.
- If there is white smoke in chimney, decrease the blower air by closing of damper.
- Record the activity details in Boiler Log book
Frequency :
As when required
Stopping Procedure :
- Switch off the burner.
- Switch off the blower.
- Switch off the pre heater.
- Switch off the fuel pump.
- Release the steam by opening the vent valve.
- Maintain the water level ¾ in boiler gauge glass.
- Switch off the water feed pump.
- Close the suction valve of the feed pump.
