Sop for Sodium hypochlorite solution preparation
This Document describes (Standard Operating procedure) Sop for Sodium hypochlorite solution (Naocl) preparation for treat water during water processing in water system. It is act as disinfecting agent.
Sop for Sodium hypochlorite solution preparation (Naocl)
I. Purpose & Scope:
- The Purpose of this SOP is to lay down the procedure for Sop for Sodium hypochlorite solution preparation (Naocl).
- This procedure is applicable Engineering Department personnel for Sop for Sodium hypochlorite solution preparation (Naocl).
II. Responsibilities:
- All Engineering personnel shall be responsible to follow and implement this SOP.
III . Introduction and Procedural Part :
Procedure :
Sodium Hypochlorite Dosing System (Dosage of 2 ppm for reduction of Microbial load):
- Prepare sodium hypochlorite solution in the tank (2.0) ppm.
- Clean the dosing tank.
- Suspended matter should not be present.
- Suction float of the dosing pump should be properly immersed in the dosing solution.
- For proper dosage, check no air is locked in the suction & discharge side of dosing tube.
- Add 1.8 liter. Of sodium hypochlorite solution (4% concentration) in the tank & add 24 ltr. Of RO permeate water.
Concentration of NaOCl (C) | 4 % |
PPM of NaOCl to be Dosed (D) | 2.0 ppm |
No. of hours of operation ( H) | 8 hrs. |
Flow in m3/hr ( F) | 4 m3hr |
Specific gravity of NaOCl | 1.1 |
Amount of NaOCl required | (F X H X D) / (10 X C),(4 X 8 X 2) / ( 10 X 4) = 1.76 Ltr., ( 1.8 Ltr.) |
- The flow rate of the dosing pump should be maintained 50 strokes per minute. (set the knob at the 50 marking on the dial behind dosing pump).
- All data shall be recorded in Annexure I
Frequency:
As an when required.
