Standard Test procedure for shrink Roll

1.Description:

Following visual checking to be carried out

Procedure: Examine at least 5 PVC shrink sleeve in day light for appearance.

PVC shrink sleeve should receive in properly wrapped with polythene bag and final packing in corrugated box. Free from pit marks. Free from stains and foreign matters

2.Identification Test for PVC :

(Test to be performed on maximum five samples)

Equipment: Burner

Procedure: Select randomly three PVC shrink sleeve from the consignment.

Hold the  PVC shrink sleeve sample in a  pair of tongue and burn it on Burner for 10 sec. Observe flame  colour- It should be  Blue, Yellow tip & smell should be fruity./pungent. PVC will melt & chars but No dripping

3.Width:

(Test to be performed on maximum five samples)

Instrument: Scale

Procedure: Measure the Width of PVC shrink sleeve by using scale and calculate the minimum, maximum and average Width.

4.Fitting on containers:

(Test to be performed on maximum five samples)

Procedure: Take PVC shrink sleeve and bottles

Insert the bottles in PVC shrink sleeve and check it is fit properly on the container or not.

Note down the results in test data sheet.

5.Shrinkable properties:

(Test to be performed on maximum five samples)

Procedure: Take PVC shrink sleeve and heat PVC shrink sleeve with drier.

When heated with drier should shrink longitudinal & transverse directions

6.Grammage:

(Test to be performed on maximum five samples)

Instrument: Analytical Balance

Procedure: Cut the 5 X 5 cms piece of PVC shrink sleeve by using scale and cutter

Weigh the piece on analytical balance, note down the weight in test data sheet.

Calculate the grammage as per formula given below.
