Standard test procedure for Printed Sticker Label

1.Description:

Following visual checking to be carried out.

Procedure: Examine the label in day light for appearance

No letters from Text matter should either erased or become fade Ensure that labels are properly bind in bundle or beat with paper wrapper. Printed sticker label of chrome art paper having silicone as backing and release paper it should be free from dust and foreign particles. Labels should properly packed in a bundle with paper wrapper and finally should be packed in corrugated box.

2.Paper quality:

(Test to be performed on maximum five samples)

Procedure: Chrome art paper, should be in accordance with approved sample.

3.Grammage:

(Test to be performed on maximum five samples)

Procedure: Remove the release paper by hand.

Instrument: Analytical Balance.

Remove the glue with moisten cotton, dry the label at room temperature.

Cut 5 x 5 cms piece or 10 x 5 cms piece or 10 x10 cms piece depends on the size of label

Weigh it on analytical balance

Calculate the grammage of label as per formula given below

4.Text matter:

(Test to be performed on maximum five samples)

Procedure: Should be as per approved artwork or approved specimen.

5. Dimensions:

(Test to be performed on maximum five samples)

Instrument: Scale.

Procedure: Measure the Length x Breadth in mm by Scale.

6. Cutting:

(Test to be performed on maximum five samples)

Procedure: Check visually that the labels are cut properly.

7. Color scheme:

(Test to be performed on maximum five samples)

Procedure: Take randomly printed sticker lable and visually observe the colour with approved shade card.

Note down the results in test data sheet.

Should match with approved colour shade card or approved specimen.

8. Printing quality:

(Test to be performed on maximum five samples)

Procedure: Text matter should be clear, legible & sharp. No smudging should be observed.

9.Ink smearing:

(Test to be performed on maximum five samples)

Procedure: There should not be smearing or removal of ink when rubbed with moisten cotton Note down the results in test data sheet

10. Gum content:

(Test to be performed on maximum five samples)

  Instrument: Analytical Balance.

Procedure: Take a label, remove attached release paper.

Weigh it on analytical balance and note down the weight in test data sheet (W1)

Keep label on a table upside down position (i.e. sticky side will come at the top).

Take cotton and deep in beaker containing ethyl acetate.

Wipe the sticky side of label with wet cotton.

Dry the label at room temperature

Weigh it on analytical balance and note down the weight in test data sheet (W2)

Calculate gum content of label as per formula given below:

Calculation:
